TO BECOME A LIBRARY MEMBER
Cards are free to all residents of our legal service area:
Montpelier, Berlin, Calais, East Montpelier, Middlesex, and Worcester.

If you live outside the legal service area, the following tax replacement charges apply as of July 1, 2009:
Single person: $37
Family: $44
Single senior (65 and over): $28
Senior couple: $37

These charges are tied to the per-capita tax support that Montpelier residents voted on Town Meeting day 2009. All future charges will be commensurate with Montpelier's tax support.

LOAN PERIODS AND SERVICES
  • Loan Periods: 2 weeks for most materials in adult library; 4 weeks in children’s library; 1 week for magazines, DVDs and videos.
  • Renewal: You may renew by phone or in person. Items on reserve for another patron, new books, videos, DVDs and magazines cannot be renewed.
  • Overdue Fines: Most fines are 15 cents per day, per item. Fines for videos, DVDs, and interlibrary loans are 50 cents per day.
  • Reserving Books: Any item can be reserved for you. Please pick up within 3 days of notification.
  • Interlibrary Loan: If we don’t have a book you want, we can borrow it for you from another library. Just fill out a form at the desk.
  • Public Meeting Rooms: Rooms may be booked for free events or meetings.
  • Internet Access: We offer computers both for research and e-mail. E-mail users may book a computer for up to 30 minutes per day.
  • Handicapped Access: The School St. entrance is wheelchair accessible.
  • Story Time: This pre-school program is offered weekly. Call 223-4665 for a schedule of events for children.
  • Books on Wheels: Even if you can’t get to the library, we will deliver. Call 223-3338 for information. We also deliver to daycares, community lunches, and more.


BOOK SELECTION, LOST BOOKS, RULES OF CONDUCT, INTERNET POLICY
The Library Director has ultimate responsibility for selection of all materials in the Kellogg-Hubbard. Further details are set forth in a Book Selection Policy. See also Lost Book Policy. In order to assure that all persons who use the library may enjoy its facilities, the KHL has adopted Rules for Conduct for the Use of the Library. In 1997 the Board adopted an Internet Policy recommended by the American Library Association.
