| PETER AND POLLY books for sale. Peter and Polly books celebrate the fictional activities of two children living on a farm in Vermont in the early 1900s. Rose Lucia wrote these five books, now collected in one volume, between 1909 and 1921. Paul Willard and his sister Cecile of East St. Johnsbury were the basis for the book characters, Marcus Hovey, also of East St. Johnsbury was the prototype for Farmer Brown, and the East St. Johnsbury home of Caroline Griswold provided the locale for the stories. Almost every page is charmingly illustrated in black and white. Many who grew up in Vermont remember the stories with great fondness, and these delightful paperback books are available again for purchase at the library for $25. | ||
